The apparent increase in the number of electric cars in Lithuania these days is no longer surprising to many. Compared to 2020, the number of newly registered EVs in Lithuania in 2021 will have tripled. Although it is too early to provide official statistics on the growth of the number of electric cars in 2022, it is predicted that the number of electric cars on the streets of Lithuania will continue to increase rapidly.<\/p>

Alongside the growing number of electric vehicles, the demand for charging stations is also increasing, and is increasingly being felt in public and semi-public car parks near various business locations.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Earlier this year, Lithuania adopted amendments to the law which require that, from now on, when new residential and non-residential buildings are built or old ones are renovated, at least 20% of the parking spaces in these buildings must be equipped with an electric vehicle infrastructure that allows for easy installation of charging stations for electric vehicles.<\/p>

<\/p>

The importance of sustainable, electric transport in Europe has also been reinforced by Russia’s war against Ukraine. The significant increase in the price of gas and oil products as a result of the war has highlighted the dependence of central and western Europe on energy imports from Russia and Belarus. Having experienced the obvious increase in energy prices, Lithuanian and foreign politicians are already making public announcements to reduce the burden of this energy dependence and to focus more on energy extraction in Europe. This could also be a good opportunity to develop the infrastructure needed for a sustainable electric transport sector. <\/p>

New laws and changing trends in the transport sector are encouraging businesses to think more and more about installing charging stations for electric vehicles. Although not every business is willing to invest its own money in such infrastructure development, the number of charging stations at business premises is increasing.
