The automotive giant expands its range of electric cars. Back in February this year, the E-Tron GT – a more comfortable and arguably faster version of the PORSCHE Taycan – was launched. The AUDI R8, the next-generation A4 and the A6 can all be expected to be electric, reports automotive news portal Wheels.ca.<\/em>

<\/p>

AUDI is investing generously in the development of future electric cars. However, the company’s CEO Markus Duesmann admits that TESLA has an advantage in terms of range on a single charge – AUDI has a lot of room to grow. However, Mr Duesmann predicts that in the future, electric cars will generally offer a shorter range on a single charge.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

“Huge batteries for thousands of kilometres. I’m not sure this trend will continue,” the AUDI CEO told Roadshow <\/em>. According to Mr Duesmann, as charging infrastructure densifies and drivers become more accustomed to charging stations, demand for powerful batteries will fall.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Powerful batteries make electric cars too heavy, expensive and large, says the AUDI CEO. As the power of the EV battery increases, the size of the component increases in parallel, which affects the attractiveness of the EV: price, size, weight. As AUDI’s CEO says, once the network of charging stations is sufficiently developed, it will no longer make sense to drive long distances on a single charge.<\/p>

<\/p>

Going to the petrol station to fill up is a routine and relatively quick action. Meanwhile, when driving an electric car, topping up at a public charging station<\/a> or at your own home charging station is not yet a natural process. “But once we get used to it, I think battery sizes will go down again,” added Mr Duesmann. At the same time, it is hoped that in the future it will be possible to shorten loading times.<\/p>

<\/p>

AUDI’s “head” also promises that future electric cars will be developed specifically for this purpose, i.e. y. will not convert ICE models to EVs.<\/p>
