Charged Up’21 – EV Day in Lithuania
The team at Įkrautas doesn’t just make sure your electric car is charged. We care about the public understanding of the electric car industry and the benefits it brings to the environment we live in. According to the statistics of the State Enterprise Regitra, last year Lithuania registered 2.3 times more electric cars than the year before. Such figures are encouraging and encourage various initiatives. One of them, undertaken by our team on EV Day in Lithuania – “Charged Up’21 |Most EVs in one place“.
The date of the event is no coincidence
The date of the event was deliberately chosen. 9 September is International Electric Vehicle Day, a global day to raise awareness of clean and environmentally friendly transport. With the growing interest of Lithuanians in electric cars, now is the right time to start promoting and celebrating this day in Lithuania. This year, the event will take place on Saturday 11 September, the closest Saturday to EV Day, to bring together as many EV enthusiasts as possible, near the Litexpo Exhibition Centre in Vilnius. Please note that an electric car is not required to participate in the event. This is a great opportunity for those who are fascinated by the industry and maybe even looking for their first electric car. You will be able to see the most popular Lithuanian choices and talk to their owners, who we hope will be friendly and offer practical advice.
Purpose and objectives of Charged Up’21
The aim of Charged Up’21 is to set a Lithuanian record for the most EVs in one place. However, such gatherings are not new. Back in 2014, a Guinness World Record was set. Back then, 507 EVs gathered in Cupertino, California, breaking the previous record set in Stuttgart, Germany (481 EVs). Although we do not have high hopes for breaking the world record, we believe that at least 100 people will show up to enter the Lithuanian record books. Not only the Lithuanian record, but also other activities will be on offer. During the event, representatives of the global brands Peugeot and Citroen will share the latest news from the electric car industry. The “Įkrautas” team will also share up-to-date information on the development of electric vehicle infrastructure in Lithuania.
Car destruction allowance
Another very important highlight of the event, which is symbolic of the fact that we are moving towards a cleaner tomorrow, is the destruction of old, polluting cars in the transport sector, which will be broadcast live. With this action, we want to draw attention to the compensation system in place in Lithuania. The addition of a polluting car results in a compensation of €1,000 for a less polluting car or other environmentally friendly vehicle (electric scooter, bicycle or motorcycle). This compensation can also be used to buy annual tickets for public transport and for car-sharing services.
Electric motorcycles
Charged Up’21 EV Day in Lithuania will give you the opportunity to get to know and test electric motorcycles. The event will showcase the highly popular electric motorcycles from Super SOCO. They can travel more than 100 kilometres on a single charge, and the battery can be recharged simply by taking it home with you. These electric motorcycles are smartphone-enabled, so that all their technical or driving information and location can be displayed on the smartphone screen. Thanks to their affordable price, low maintenance costs and government support of up to €1,000, these vehicles are becoming increasingly popular and the choice of different models on the market is growing.
