Good news for Lithuanian companies – from 19 October this year, legal entities can benefit from business support – compensation for the purchase of electric cars.
€2 million from the Climate Change Programme has been allocated for this purpose, a decree issued on 12 October. signed by the Minister of the Environment, Kęstutis Mažeika.
According to the Environmental Project Management Agency(EPA), business support can be found when a new electric car or bus is purchased for between EUR 4,000 and 10,000. lump-sum payments of €10 million. And if you give up your old, polluting vehicle, you’ll get €1,000 more.
According to Jonas Balkevičius, Director of the National Programmes Management Department, the compensation payments, which started in April this year, have slowly stimulated the Lithuanian car market.
“We hope that this financial incentive for businesses will also remain popular,” added Mr Balkevičius.
Partial funding will be available to companies registered and operating in Lithuania that intend to buy new electric vehicles in the following classes: M1 (passenger car), M2 (bus).
Those wishing to purchase green transport can apply for financial support until February 2021.
Business support – applications will be evaluated on a competitive basis for at least 3 days and will be accepted until the Ministry of the Environment’s funding is sufficient.
