Whereas a decade ago the biggest question when choosing an electric vehicle was its range, now the question of what kind of electric vehicle to choose or what kind of charging station to install is a bigger puzzle.
As the field is still relatively young and the amount and speed of innovation is high, the third edition of Charged Up’23 took place in Vilnius on the occasion of the World EV Day, where visitors could see and test the latest electric cars and other electrified transport, and get to know the market innovations, solutions and support initiatives for green energy.
“Karolis Kieras, CEO of Įkrautas, the company organising Charged Up’23, said that the event, which is attracting more and more attention and visitors, is an excellent reflection of our market: ‘Two years ago, when we first publicised the event, we didn’t know what to expect and what the public reaction would be, but even then we had a great response.
We have just held our third such gathering and the number of visitors and participants is growing steadily.
This is a good indication that the popularity of electric vehicles in Lithuania is still gaining momentum.
We also see that people who choose electric transport are concerned about sustainability in a broader sense – solar modules, smart charging stations and other solutions are of interest to more and more drivers.”

One of the event’s sponsors, the insurance company Balcia, organised a well-attended electric scooter slalom, with the winners receiving a year’s insurance for scooters or bicycles.
There was also plenty of other entertainment: Two Wheels Empire, which sells electric motorcycles, organised an acrobatic show and gave visitors the opportunity to try out the electric motorcycles that are very popular in Lithuania.
Technology companies also showcased their products: solar modules from Solitek, as well as a new product – lithium-ion batteries.
Indrė Tursienė, the company’s Head of Product Development, also spoke more about these batteries during the conference.
LTLAB, a company with many years of experience in the development and production of electronic equipment, and which has been intensively developing specific technologies for fast charging equipment with local and international business partners for the last few years, also presented its range of products.
The conference attracted a lot of attention, where one of the speakers was Rokas Baciuška, two-time World Rally Champion, who has become an ambassador of the ban – the athlete talked about the Dakar Rally’s ambition to electrify and shared his next sporting plans.
Simonas Norbutas, Head of the Leasing Department of SEB Bank Lithuania, also gave his presentations, while Tadas Ratkevičius, the founder of the OEV.LT channel, shared his advice on how to choose an electric car.
Audronė Nikšaitė, Head of the Project Administration Unit of the LEA, presented the subtleties of support for installing charging stations, while Agnė Markauskienė, Head of the Climate Change Unit of the National Programme Management Department, talked about the number of new stations we can expect in the future.
“Mindaugas Plukys, Communications Coordinator for Renault and Dacia in the Baltics, shared how carmakers are looking at mobility and sustainability in the future and what initiatives they are already taking.
However, perhaps the highlight of the whole event, and something that even the organisers could not have foreseen in advance, was the breaking of the record for the most electric cars in one place.
The first Charged Up’23 event saw 94 purely electric cars on the Litexpo site, while in 2022 as many as 226 will be here.
This year, the number was improved by twenty, with 246 electric cars gathered in one place at one time.
The organisers admitted with a smile on their faces that every year it will become more and more difficult not only to break the record, but also to find a parking space that can accommodate everyone.
