“360 kW charging station officially opens at Volvo Truck Centre in Kaunas

The authorised Volvo Trucks dealer UAB Volvo Lietuva, together with UAB Įkrautas, has installed a 360 kW fast charging station for electric vehicles on the territory of Kaunas Truck Centre.
With this step, Volvo Lietuva promotes the electrification of heavy transport for regional transports and provides convenient access for hauliers who have already purchased electric trucks.

The opening of one of the most powerful charging stations in the Baltics in Kaunas marks the first steps towards a truck-friendly charging infrastructure.
While more and more charging points for electric vehicles are being set up across the country, most of them are not suitable for bulky vehicles – access roads, parking spaces, shelters and other infrastructure are not convenient, so electric truck drivers do not always have an easy and fast access to charging options.

"The ABB Terra 360 charging station is suitable for electric commercial vehicles.

“We are fully committed to promoting progress in the transport sector through the deployment of electromobility solutions. It is one of the fastest ways to achieve tangible results in reducing CO2 emissions, and electric drive is no longer a question of the future. Electrification of regional transport can be done today and we have a wide range of electric trucks available. We are also taking care of the convenience of charging them, and we hope that electric vehicle owners will appreciate the benefits of the new stop,” said Nicholas Kjaeras, Managing Director of Volvo Lietuva.

Artūras Stoškus, Business Project Manager at Įkrautas, points out that truck drivers will be able to approach the stop on Kaunas Western Bypass in any direction without unhitching the trailer.

"Artūras Stoškus, Business Project Manager at Įkrautas, and Nicholas Kjaeras, Managing Director of Volvo Lietuva.

“While charging cables are often heavy and not easy to use in stations of this capacity, this ABB Terra 360 station features an innovative cable system and convenient cable location, making it simple and easy to use for any driver,” points out Stoškus.

The station has a maximum capacity of 360 kW.
It uses two Combo 2 (CCS2) charging sockets with 5.3 m long cables.
When two electric vehicles are charging at the same time, the power will be divided in half.

Currently, only commercial vehicles can exploit the full potential and charging speed of a charging station. For example, Volvo’s electric trucks have a maximum charging capacity of 250 kW. A 540 kWh battery can be recharged from 10% to 100% in around 2 hours and to 80% in 1 hour. 30 minutes.

There are currently 4 Volvo FH Electric trucks registered in Lithuania. Three of them are operated by DFDS and one by UAB Vudimeksus.

Charging sessions and billing will take place via the “Charged” mobile app. It can be downloaded from both Google Play and the App Store app marketplaces.

“The ABB Terra 360 charging station was installed by UAB Inpromus.
